Out of Class Reading Requirement

A new study by the Institute of Education tells us what we already know; the study find "Children who read for pleasure are likely to do significantly better at school."  In other words, students who get more practice reading do better in school.

Reading is like any other skill.  Athletes, musicians and artists all practice to do their best; readers must practice too.

Our out of class reading requirement is for two hours of independent reading a week. All students should have books everyday at home and in every class.    Students must have parents sign saying that their child did the required reading.  It is the students job to have this paper signed.  These sheets will only be accepted on Friday or the last day of the school week.
